A good looking android phone
The Xperia C2305 is a mid-range dual sim Android smartphone, which made a superb first impression on us.
The Xperia C’s measures 141.5x74.15x8.88mm and is comfortable to hold and operate single handed. It’s matte finished rear looks classy, Sony has increased the back panel size up to the bezel, this improves the looks. The left side is unoccupied, all buttons like power/standby, volume rocker and camera hotkey are on the right — a good single-handed experience for right handed people. The glossy front design creates an illusion that it has an edge-to-edge screen, making it appear more expensive than it actually is.
The Xperia C has a 8-megapixel rear camera, which also shoots 1080p 30fps videos. The camera has autofocus and an LED flash. The 5in 960x540 pixel qHD screen has a pixel density of 240dpi, this is lesser than competitors. However, we found the screen bright and vibrant with natural colours. The viewing angle is impressive as well.
Inside, there’s a 1.2 GHz MTK6589 Quad Core processor with a POWERVR SGX544MP graphic processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB of inbuilt storage. The 4GB inbuilt memory feels a bit less, however it can be expanded by an additional 32GB if so desired.
In real life use, the phone performed as expected while handling calls, browsing the web, consuming multimedia content and using apps. But it struggled a bit while playing games, with a few frame drops in graphic intensive games, though popular games like Temple Run and Angry Birds ran smoothly.
The XPERIA C managed a Quadrant benchmark score of 4808, ahead of HTC One X. It took 1393 ms to complete the SunSpider test, better than several other budget handsets. The rear camera is pretty good for outdoor photography, it struggles a bit indoors, with a some visible noise, but images are still usable.
The battery is impressive, the 2330mAh battery easily lasts a day of heavy usage. If you don’t watch videos often or play graphic heavy games, then you can expect the battery to last for more than a day.
In a nutshell, the Sony Xperia C is a decent option for people who prefer dual SIM phones as there aren’t many budget options available in the market at present. However, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, which is expected to arrive by the beginning of January can pose a threat, if Samsung keeps the price under Rs 20,000.
